Wheeled Recycling Bins for Your Business 

 The Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough is pleased to announce that your business may now obtain free wheeled recycling bins that will make recycling easier for you.

 These wheeled recycling bins are being distributed to restaurants, bars and hotels in Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce thanks to a subsidy program run by the Table pour la récupération hors foyer, a non-profit organization whose goal is to launch, develop and implement a large-scale curbside non-residential recycling program. In the next few weeks, you will be visited by a borough Eco-quartier office representative, who will give you further details.

 The borough’s Green Plan, which we adopted after consulting the community, is helping us target our efforts as we strive to go green. For instance, to boost recycling, we have already introduced wheeled bins for public institutions and residential buildings with nine or more units. We will be “rolling them out” for single-family homes this fall. The borough is now encouraging restaurants, bars and hotels to do more recycling by offering them free wheeled recycling bins. We hope that your business will take advantage of this great opportunity to recycle even more.

Hydro Québec's We Go With The Flow

You're an NDG resident and you'd like to save energy and help funding some a project in your community? You can do just that, thanks to Hydro Québec’s new ENERGY WISE Home Diagnostic program.

All you have to do is to fill out a questionnaire that analyzes your energy consumption and, in exchange, receive a personalized recommendations report containing practical energy-saving tips. During the campaign, which will run from March 16 to September 15, 2010, Hydro-Québec will give to the borough $30 for reports sent by mail, or $35 for reports sent on-line, for each recommendations report issued.

In NDG, that money will be used to build a new bicycle path. So what are you waiting for? Take 5 minutes of your time to visit wegowiththeflow.com, or get more informations on your Borough's site.

Free compost for NDG residents (proof of address is required).

On Saturday, October 9^th there will be a free compost distribution for residents from 10am-1pm at NDG Park (corner Sherbrooke & Girouard) near the chalet.

Tips for an Green Moving Day 

 Planning a green moving day is probably easier than you think! The Éco-quartier NDG has a multitude of resources at your disposal. Here are some tips to think of when you're planning your move: 

1) Clothing, books, toys, and small appliances: before throwing these away,  look up the Couleur Bazar online or  http://ville.montreal.qc.ca/reemploi (in French) for Montreal's reuse & second-hand directories!.  Any other questions? Give a shout to your local Éco-quartier.

2)  Hazardous household waste: paint, pesticides, expired medication, and non-recycables that cannot be repaired; including broken dishes, neons, unusable fabrics, and old televisions, just to name a few, can be brought to your local Eco-centre. The Côte-des-Neiges Éco-centre is located at 6925 Chemin de la Cote-des-Neiges; (514) 872-3517.

3)  Old batteries, printer cartridges, and wine corks: bring them to us at the Éco-quartier NDG. 

4) Giving or Selliing:   Try offering unwanted objects to friends or other community members, or visit web sites such as Craigslist, Freecycle and Kijji.

Ecocenters Opening Hours

• In the Summer (April 15th to October 31st) they are open Monday to Sunday, from 8 am to 6 pm
• Even though they closes at 6 pm, Ecocenters' employees lock the gate at 5:45 pm to assure a good, smooth service to their last clients
