History
The first edition of the Hip Hop You Don't Stop urban arts festival was organized in 2005 as a means to offer positive alternatives to youth from underprivileged backgrounds from Côte-des-Neiges and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. By offering them the opportunity to participate in activities related to arts, especially to Hip Hop culture, this program allows youth to put their energy into something constructive. The project is related to Hip Hop culture, an artistic movement really appreciated by the afore mentioned youth. Hip Hop culture is based on the four principal forms of artistic expressions: dance (Breakdance, Hip Hop dance, etc), music (DJ), literature (RAP – Rhythm and Poetry), and painting (graffiti). To organise this event, Prevention CDN/NDG works with the different community organizations from the neighbourhood who already offer urban arts related activities throughout the year.
Mark your calendars for September 2012 for our 7th edition! Saturday, September 15th in Parc Jean-Brillant
